History & Significance
Navaratri celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. In Tamil Nadu, the Golu tradition of arranging dolls on steps is a cherished cultural practice.
Significance
Celebrates feminine divine power (Shakti). The nine nights honor Durga (courage), Lakshmi (wealth), and Saraswati (knowledge) – three nights each.
