தார்தாங்கிச் செல்வது தானை தலைவந்த போர்தாங்கும் தன்மை அறிந்து.
English Meaning
That is an army which knowing the art of warding of an impending struggle, can bear against the dust-van (of a hostile force).

தன் மேல் எதிர்த்து வந்த பகைவரின் போரைத்தாங்கி, வெல்லும் தன்மை அறிந்து அவனுடைய தூசிப்படையை எதிர்த்துச் செல்லவல்லதே படையாகும்.
சாலமன் பாப்பையா
தன்மீது வந்த பகைவரின் போரைத் தடுக்கும் முறையை அறிந்து அவர்களில் முதலாவதாக வந்து சண்டையிடும் காலாட்படை ( தூசிப்படை, தேர்ப்படை, கொடிப்படை, முன்னணிச் சேனை என்றும் பெயர்) தன்மீது வராமல் தடுப்பதே படை.
